...line up...

this is my character line up and the size they'll be in comparison to each other...im realy happy and i find their colour pallets sit well together.

...hero....what colour?..

i been having quite alot of trouble with the colours for my hero and finding it hard to seettle i know i wanted a limited pallet of two colours....i needed him to look instantly like a hero because i dont want him to be mistaken for a villain. i also didnt want his colours to be tooo bright or generic...:D

....the boy...

this is a simple digital start to a turnaround i just wanted to see what he would look like and if his design still worked when it was digital im quite happy with it :D needs a bit more work though me thinks.

...character head line up...

these are the head of my three characters i put them together to see if they worked...im quite happy with my designs but i may change the boy , he was the first one i did , thats my ezcuse for it being worse :D

im gunna do the body for these characters next :D

...boy's head...

this is a test for the head for my boy character or the 'stock' if you like :D......i was struggling with this because my turnaround was mega bad...i find turnarounds realy hard but I realy enjoyed doing this one, i find it alot easier to make slight ajustments and get all the heights to aline by doing a digital turnaround... i need to change the hair on the side view because its a bit stuck to his forehead but part from that im reasonably happy with it :D

..hands anyone..?

These are some jps of my flash files i was trying to figure out how the hands may look in flash im having some problems relating the drawing into flash as some of the detail gets lost so need to see how im gunna add that back in, i realy like the design i went with for the boys hands. I think the monster hands need alot more work.

These are some action sheets for Alex, i looked at trying to have in oses when he would be scared, tired and preparing to fight monsters, some are more successful than others.

...development of the characters as a whole.....

I did the outline characters page and decided to develop the character as a group, i looked at how their silouettes worked, this was really successful, you can tell the difference between the good and evil characters, the good ones have all rounded edges and the monster have sharp edges on their hands and are more pointy.

I took the  textured pieces I did for the individual characters  and put them together to see how they looked, this workd realy well, i think the colours work nicely aswel . It would be nice to maybe incorrperate the fabric effect on my final piece with the monsters.

These are the basic colours i chose for the characters. i may change the colour of the hero slightly becasue it looks a but sharp, you can see this easier when all the charactersa are put together.

This is my outline line up of all the characters, I was really happy with them when I put them all together :D I think it works really well.

...alex....

This is the final design for the boy, i did this piece using some textures and things, i did this for fun more than anything really. i realy liked how it turned out and did one of these for all the characters. :D

I started to develop the caracters next, i looked at the type of clothes I wanted the boy/alex to be wearing, I decidded that i liked the idea of him having the one piece pjamas, they make him look cute and inoccent, I was pretty much set on these cothes at the beginning but tried a few others just to make sure. i knew I wanted a simple colour pallet for the boy and wanted a blue colour so tried different shades to see which i liked the best. I had a look at some different colours for his hair aswel to see what would suit the character. Again i have written in more depth on these pages so have a read. :D

....boy expressions....

these are my expressions sheets for my boy character. I did 3 pages for him whereas the other characters had two as i felt he was a more important character and to be honest i kinda enjoy drawing him. :D i have trouble drawing the face from different angles which i think is something i need to start doing. I quite like some of the facial expressions i created.

these are some experimenting pages i did jsut looking at textures and such :D was rather fun, did alot of this over christmas because i found it easier to concentrate on while i couldnt go into uni.:D
